Microbiological Food Safety Program

Solent Butchers conduct routine daily swabbing of meat contact surfaces to confirm the effectiveness of cleaning controls. Micro and chemical analysis is carried out on meat products to verify shelf-life, visual lean and meat content on a regular basis by a NAMMAS-accredited laboratory. All tests carried out support our aim of achieving maximum levels of food safety for all key areas of our business.

Labelling

All our products are labelled in line with current food legislation including full traceability. Labels are continuously monitored to ensure full compliance at all times.

Traceability

Full Traceability from ‘Farm to Plate’ covers the complete Product Range. Utilising a System of Batch, Production and Dispatch Codes all products are traced from entry into Production System through to Dispatch and to the Final Consumer.

Random audits are carried out providing documented evidence to confirm that the Traceability System is being maintained at all times.

Training

Staff Training is geared to ensure that the highest levels of expectation in Food Safety laid out in British Retail Consortium Technical Standard and all current Food Legislation are maintained at all times.

Our Staff are our most important and valuable asset and we believe that by investing in staff training we will continue to complement our business and continually satisfy and exceed our customer’s expectations.

Audits

Within the company Quality System, procedures are in place to carry out regular daily documented checks and full Weekly/Monthly Internal Audits. Audits provide useful dialogue which result in immediate corrective action being taken when required. External Audits are always welcome and encouraged.
